November 14, 2018 @ 10:00 am

Camp Ellis was a United States World War II Army Service Forces Unit Training Center and prisoner-of-war camp between the towns of Bernadotte, Ipava, and Table Grove in Fulton County, Illinois. The camp opened in April of 1943. German prisoners of war were guarded by the 475th and 476th Military Police Escort Guard Companies. Training activities ended in November 1944. The camp was named after Sergeant Michael B. Ellis, a World War I Medal of Honor recipient from East Saint Louis, Illinois.
Marsha Morgan was born in 1940 and will tell her personal memories of Camp Ellis. She remembers the sounds of the troops marching past her house.
This will be Marsha’s 16th talk about her Camp Ellis memories. She taught history at Warren Jr High for 25 years.
